Our Märzen is a celebration of time-honored tradition, brewed annually for seven years as a classic fall favorite at Angry Horse. This lager style has its roots in 16th-century Bavaria, where it was originally brewed in March ("Märzen") and stored cool throughout the summer to be enjoyed during autumn festivals—most notably Oktoberfest. We keep that tradition alive with our own take, crafting a beer that’s perfect for crisp days and good company.
Brewed with Bohemian Pilsner Malt, Munich Type 2, and just a touch of rye malt, our Märzen brings you a rich, malty profile that’s smooth and inviting. The rye adds a subtle spice, complementing the toasty sweetness of Munich malt, while Saaz, Pekko, and Perle hops provide a delicate balance with floral and earthy notes. It’s clean, crisp, and finishes with just the right amount of bitterness to keep you coming back for more.
We’re proud to bring this Märzen back year after year, as it’s become a beloved seasonal tradition both for us and our community. Whether you're a long-time fan or discovering it for the first time, grab a glass, and join us in toasting seven years of craft, connection, and timeless flavor. Oktoberfest or not, this beer is worth the wait!
